The SR 77-2 Escape Hood is a filtering respiratory protective device combined with a hood for self-rescue in the event of a fire or a chemical emission accident giving you 30+ minuets of filtered air (warning: sufficient levels of oxigen must be present in the air for this equipment to work). The hood is based on a Sundström silicone half mask, which is mounted in a hood made of flame-resistant material. The hood can be put on quickly and simply without prior adjustment. The hood is available in two sizes and fits most adults and teenagers.The hoods are vacuum-packed in aluminium bags (do not remove until needed). The SR 77-2 M is delivered in a contingency bag made of nylon and designed for mounting on a belt.The hood is equipped with gas filter SR 331-2 ABEK1-CO and particulate filter SR 510 P3, and provides short-time protection against carbon monoxide and other toxic gases and particles that may be emitted in a fire or in a chemical emission accident.
The SR 510 P3 provides protection against all types of particles (dust, fume, fog, spray, asbestos), even bacterium, viruses and radioactive pollution. The filter separates 99,997% of the pollution in the air. That means that the air is 33 000 times cleaner on the backside of the filter media than in the front (the standards requires 2000 times cleaner air).
Use this mask in an emergency only. It is designed for quick response. Possible uses: (1) if trapped and sheltering in a car as a fire front passes. This will filter the toxic gases that will be generated by the heat from all the man made material inside the car. (2) If sheltering in your home and fire breaches the inside. The house can quickly fill with toxic smoke. This mask will give you time until while the fire front passes. This mask can also protect you at work in hi rise buildings, hotels and during airline travel.
